Hey!
I just leff a comment on a more recent post, but thought I'd say that I used to pull my chin forward to try to make up for the overbite too.
My doctor called it "cheating" but that cheating didn't do a whole lot of good anyways b/c it was never enough to make the front teeth meet, and I also had an open bite problem that was masked by the severe overbite. I hope you're happy w/ your sugery! I had lots of insurance approval issues and reschedulings by the OR, and it was so stressful, but I'm so glad I did it! some of the feeling is coming back in my lower lip adn I"m happy. :)

i have the same problem. my lower jaw stopped growing when i was in like the 1st grade. i go to a small school so all the guys make fun of me, and dont respect me. im tired of it and i want to change. im 15, and i have to wait until next summer to get my surgery. but i dont want to take a whole nother year of krap from people, and only have my junior and senior year left to change. maybe once i get my surgery people will finally see me, for me. and just maybe i wont get teased.

Emily,

High School can be rough! Its hard to say, "dont care what others think" cuz we all know that we cannot help feel that way. I thought after surgery i would feel more confident in the way i look, and some days i do. But deep down i still feel like the same old girl who felt like a freak and disfigured. Having the surgery will not change your inner self, please keep that in mind. You are beautiful now and always. The surgery is so you can bight into a hamburger without it falling apart. :o) Before you know it, your surgery will be done and over...hang in there! ~Desiree
